The Ordinary Skincare Routine for Dry Skin

Sharing is caring!

The Ordinary has become famous in the skincare industry for their simple and effective formulas, only using science-backed ingredients that are absolutely necessary to deliver real results. Their products are effective and really affordable – most of them are under $20. And, they are cruelty free and vegan! I tried The Ordinary products several months ago and since then I fell in love with this brand.

In this post, I share my skincare routine for dry skin using The Ordinary products.

My Skincare Routine for Dry Skin

Simplified skincare routine steps:

Morning routine

  1. Cleanser
  2. Serum
  3. Moisturizer
  4. SPF

Night routine

  1. Cleanser
  2. Serum
  3. Moisturizer

After cleansing the skin I apply serum. I’ve tried these hydrating serums from The Ordinary:

Serum 1: The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Hydration Support Formula

View at SkinStore ($7.50)

Why I love it: This lightweight gel serum contains a concentrated dose of Hyaluronic Acid, which draws in moisture and locks it into the skin. Hyaluronic Acid can hold up to 1000x their weight in water! And this serum contains three forms of the Hyaluronic Acid, varying in size to penetrate different levels of the skin for multi-depth hydration. It also targets the appearance of wrinkles.

I use this serum after cleansing the skin and before applying moisturizer. It is also amazing for hydration of the underye area!

Serum 2: The Ordinary Marine Hyaluronics

View at SkinStore ($8.00)

Why I love it: This serum is mainly a hydrator. It contains marine-derived water reservoirs that attract and hold water. It acts as an alternative for hyaluronic acid. The solution is very lightweight (almost like water), and it targets hydration below the skin surface (goes deeper than moisturizer).

Personally, I like both of the above serums, they are perfect before applying moisturizer and boosts hydration of the skin.

Next step – moisturizer.

The Ordinary Natural Moisturising Factors + HA

View at SkinStore ($10.50)

Why I love it: This moisturizer is super hydrating, it instantly alleviates any sense of skin dryness. It contains Hyaluronic Acid, amino acids, fatty acids that provide long-lasting hydration for the surface of the skin. I’ve been using this moisturizer for the past several months in the morning and night, and I love it! The texture is rich, creamy, and the moisturizer is easily absorbed. I usually apply two layers of it to dryer parts of my face. I noticed that my skin has become very hydrated and glowing (hydrated skin=glowing skin). And I really love that it lasts long and is not expensive!

The Ordinary Hydration Bundle

View at SkinStore ($21.00)

Why I love it: This cheap bundle contains serum, moisturizer and a 100% Plant-Derived Squalane. Squalane is an exceptional hydrator found naturally in the skin, and this formula uses 100% plant-derived squalane derived from sugar cane.

100% Plant-Derived Squalane doesn’t contain water and should be used after water-based products (Hyaluronic Acid serum) and before moisturizer.
