How I Got Rid of Fine Lines
1. I became conscious of my facial expressions
I saw the first fine line on my forehead when I was 21 years old. It got me terrified back then and thought that I started aging prematurely. Even my dermatologist said that that fine line will not go away and only deepen with time.
However, I followed advice from my mom to monitor my facial expressions. I became very conscious of my facial expressions and stopped frowning my forehead, as well as raising my eyebrows when I’m surprised.
I did that and it helped me so much! That small fine line still exists but is visible only for myself. Many people choose to get botox injection into the forehead, but honestly, you can save so much money by just learning to monitor your facial expressions!
2. I started sleeping on my back only
This one is super important. If you sleep on your side or on your stomach, it means that you spend around 8 hours every day in a position that is bad for your skin. Just imagine how many hours it is in a year!
3. I hydrated my skin a lot
So the reason why my first fine lines appeared very early was that my skin was very dehydrated. Skin dehydration is always a result of a poor skincare routine.
It all started after I went to a natural seminar and the host (I think she was a dermatologist) said that when it comes to skincare the less is more. She told that it’s always best to apply a small amount of moisturizer to the face. Especially before going to sleep, because if we apply too much of it, the skin cannot regenerate on itself.
So I listened and since then I started using a very minimal amount of skincare products. And my skin became dehydrated fast. But still, I didn’t realize that it was due to my skincare routine. I truly thought that my skin started to age prematurely because I consumed lots of sugar then.
Only a few years later I discovered the root of this issue when I started going to skincare seminars. I found out that you actually need to hydrate your skin a lot. Fine lines are usually caused by skin dehydration. When I started using a serum, a moisturizer, a night cream, and face masks, this skin issue was solved.
I learned that the important thing is to use a whole system of products, to layer them properly, and to apply as much as you need them.
What I found out is that if you apply moisturizer/hydrating face mask to your face and it absorbs immediately, it means that your skin is dehydrated and you should apply more of the product. This little trick helped me to get glowing skin. I would even apply a night cream twice before going to sleep and would wake up with super hydrated skin.
4. I used anti-aging skincare products
Besides hydrating your skin, monitoring your facial expressions, and changing your sleeping position, it’s also important to use skin care products for your age range. As soon as you are around 25 years old, it’s necessary to look for more advanced skincare (meaning that it contains antioxidants, low-molecule hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, etc.) to smooth fine lines and to prevent the formation of new ones. It takes about 6 years for a wrinkle to form, so it’s important to prevent this from happening by taking care properly of your skin regularly.
However, you shouldn’t use skincare products for mature skin, if you haven’t reached that age yet. It’s always best to consult with a professional when choosing the right skincare for your age range.
5. I got hyaluronic acid injections into the fine lines around my mouth
Yes, I did that as well! It’s very important to do everything to prevent fine lines and wrinkles, but once they’ve formed, it is hard to make them disappear totally, especially in the area around the mouth. Because while you can control frowning of your forehead and raising your eyebrows, it’s really hard to stop smiling and laughing – that’s how the fine lines around the mouth form.
I wanted to totally get rid of those fine lines, so I got a 1 ml injection in total, and I was very satisfied with that procedure. However, one thing that you should be careful of, is that if you don’t need the whole dosage, a dermatologist usually suggests using the remaining to other fine lines (on your forehead or neck) or injecting it to the lips. However, I really think it’s better not to start having lip injections, because once you start this, it’s hard to stop, and your lips lose their original shape.
P.S. Vitamin C Serum Recommendation
If you’re looking for a good vitamin C serum, I really recommend this one from KORA Organics!
It includes Ascorbyl Glucoside (vitamin C ), which is the second ingredient in the list. It also contains vitamin C from Kakadu Plum, Acerola Cherry, Orange & Lemon Peel, Noni Fruit, and. Vitamin C helps protect the skin from free radicals and reduces skin pigmentation.
It also contains Sodium Hyaluronate which is a smaller molecule form of Hyaluronic Acid. This means that it penetrates deeper into the dermis and more effectively reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
