In this post, I’m sharing some of my beauty routine tips and beauty hacks – from skincare to makeup and hair care. All this is what I learned from dermatologists, other beauty experts or discovered myself. I hope that you’ll find something new for yourself that will make your beauty routine more effective!

1. Skincare Routine
Here are all my skincare routine tips that I learned from dermatologists, and that have really helped me to get glowing skin:
- Use products for your skin type (dry/normal/combination/oily). It’s best to go to a dermatologist that could determine what is your skin type. I for a long time thought that my skin type was dry, but when I went to a dermatologist, she said that it was actually a dehydrated combination type.
- Morning and night skincare routine. In the morning it’s necessary to cleanse the skin from the sweat and sebum that has accumulated on the skin during the night, and at night you have to cleanse it again to remove makeup, SPF, sebum, dirt, etc.
- Use a toner. Water leaves the skin’s PH imbalanced because water’s PH is 7 and the skin needs PH 5.5. After washing your face, simply mist some toner that doesn’t contain alcohol, or hydrosol (I like to use rose water). And immediately follow up with a serum and moisturizer – they will absorb much better.
- Never use a towel for your face because towels collect bacteria really fast. After washing your face, simply dry your face with disposable paper tissue. It’s very comfortable to always have facial tissues in the bathroom and you can use a tissue box cover to make it look more elegant. And never rub your skin with a tissue, only gently tap until it absorbs the water.
- Use an eye cream that is specifically made for the eye area.
- Moisturizer+serum+face masks. A moisturizer guarantees comfort for your skin because it works in the superficial layers of the skin, while a serum works in the deeper layers of the skin.
- Use SPF.
- Sleep on your back only, or use a silk pillowcase. I learned from my dermatologist that you should always sleep on your back because this will prevent the formation of fine lines on your face. However, an alternative would be to use a silk pillowcase because it creates 43% less friction and absorbs significantly less face cream than regular cotton pillowcases.
2. Tinted Lip Balm
Tinted lip balm is an amazing choice if you don’t like applying lip gloss/lipstick several times per day. It moisturizes the lips and gives them a natural color. Tinted lip balm is literally my savior because I apply a lip balm on my lips like a hundred times per day and don’t have time for lipsticks/lip glosses, especially these days when we have to wear face masks all the time.
By the way, if you have dry lips and happen to don’t have lip balm at home, apply some honey. It moisturizes the lips really well and looks like a natural lip gloss, the only downside is that it absorbs quickly. But overall it’s a real savior for dry lips.

3. Cleansing Oil for the Skin
Korean women use cleansing oil as the first step in their nighttime skincare routine, and then they cleanse their skin again with a water-based cleanser. This is called the double cleansing technique.
Cleansing oil is an amazing product, it melts away all the sebum, makeup, and SPF, thus leaving the skin clear and soft. It’s especially good if you wear foundation during the day because a regular water-based doesn’t wash it away properly.
This Farmacy Beauty cherry cleansing balm melts away makeup and impurities caused by pollution, gently exfoliates, and has a sweet cherry scent! I like that it’s non-toxic and cruelty-free as well.
4. Mineral Eyeshadows
Mineral makeup – eyeshadows and powder – is safer than regular makeup. It doesn’t irritate the skin, since it’s made mainly from minerals (Mica), and doesn’t contain any additives, thus is suitable for sensitive skin.
I love dusty pink and lavender color eyeshadows, I think these colors are very feminine and should look good with every eye color.
If you don’t know how to do makeup (like me) this color is perfect, as you can use it on all your eyelid. This Inika’s mineral eyeshadow color is called “Pink Fetish”, it’s pigmented and suitable for sensitive eyes. It’s also vegan and cruelty-free.

5. Foot Cream/Hand Cream with Urea
A cream that contains urea is literally one of the best beauty products for feet and hands. It’s amazing for the feet because the skin on the feet easily becomes very dry, and a regular body lotion doesn’t help here. I bought a foot cream that contains urea and use it for my hands as well because my hands are very dry. I can’t stand that feeling when you apply hand cream and doesn’t relieve that dryness. If you have the same issue, try a cream with urea.
Don’t worry, it’s not real urea. One reputable website says that “commercial cosmetics, urea is made synthetically in a lab. Synthetic urea is also commonly added to baked goods and wines to help with fermentation.”[1]
I bought my foot cream with urea in a local drugstore, but Kneipp Calendula and Orange Foot Cream one is one of the best I’ve found online. It contains Shea Butter, 10% Urea, Glycerin, Almond Oil, and it’s cruelty-free.
6. Face Moisturizer for Dry Hands
If you have dry hands, try applying a moisturizing face cream on them. It doesn’t have to be expensive, it can cost a few dollars, as long as it’s a hydrating face cream (I always look for non-toxic ones though). I think that usual hand creams in drugstores are more simple than face creams so often are not effective. And I also think it’s beneficial to apply face skincare products to hands because otherwise, hands will start to show aging signs faster.
7. Hair Diffuser
Regular hair dryers will blow your hair around causing friction and frizz. It would happen to me even if I used the cool air function. When I added a hair diffuser to the front of my hairdryer it stopped. What a hair diffuse does is that it allows the hair to dry without being frayed and blown around.
My hairdryer actually came with two attachments – a regular one and a hair diffuser, so I simply switched them. However, if you don’t have one, I found this universal hair diffuser on Amazon that fits all hair dryers.
By the way, for my hair care, I use Naturalmente hair products – this is a natural and organic hair care line from Italy. However, I don’t know if it’s being sold in the USA. I get it from my hair salon that distributes Naturalmente hair care products (I live in Lithuania).
I really recommend using non-toxic hair care products. Hair products that contain chemicals may give some instant results, but they damage hair in the long run, cause itchy scalp, etc. When I buy hair products in the drugstore, the most effective for me are non-toxic ones that contain keratin or Argan oil! They make my hair smooth and soft.
