Benefits of DIY Lip Balm with Beeswax and Cocoa Butter
This DIY Lip Balm is made with wonderful natural ingredients such as beeswax, cocoa butter, coconut oil and sea buckthorn oil.
These ingredients moisturize and soften the lips, repair dry and cracked lips and keep them protected.
Let’s check out the benefits of each ingredient below:
Beeswax
Beeswax is made from honeycomb. The mixing of pollen oils into honeycomb wax turns the white wax into a yellow or brown color. In manufacturing, beeswax is used as thickener, emulsifiers, and as stiffening agent in cosmetics. Beeswax absolute is used as a fragrance in soaps and perfumes. (Source)
Beeswax has skin-softening, moisturizing and protective properties therefore it is perfect for daily lip care.
Cocoa Butter
Cocoa butter contains a high amount of fatty acids, which makes it an ideal ingredient in cosmetics. Fatty acids act as a thickening agent for skincare products, and also help enhance skin hydration with rich moisturizing properties. The fat in cocoa butter creates a protective barrier that holds in moisture and prevents the skin from drying. (Source)
Cocoa butter is also rich in vitamin E which is an antioxidant and helps protect the cells from environmental damage.
Cocoa butter also has anti-inflammatory properties.

Sea Buckthorn Oil
Sea Buckthorn Oil is full of antioxidants that help fight free radicals. It is also loaded with vitamin E.
There are two types of sea buckthorn oil – berry oil and seed oil. Seed oil contains omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, it helps reduce skin inflammation. Berry oil is high in omega 7 fatty acids which help fight skin dryness and repair skin from damage. This makes sea buckthorn berry oil ideal for skin and beauty.
It is best to use sea buckthorn oil extracted using the CO2 technology. This technology helps preserve the best oil properties compared to other extraction methods.
