You probably heard about Korean doubling skin cleansing – a nighttime routine procedure, where the skin is cleansed twice: with an oil-based cleanser and a water-based cleanser.
The main purpose of cleansing oil is to remove makeup, SPF, sebum, and dirt. But how can oil-based cleansers remove oil? The answer is that oil dissolves oil, and formulated cleansing oil bonds with and dissolves the dirty oil that has accumulated on your skin along with the dirt and impurities.
A water-based cleanser is needed to wash away the remaining cleansing oil.
This double cleansing method helps Korean women to have clear skin. It prevents skin from breakouts, clogged pores, and prepares it for absorbing the next skincare products, allowing them to work thoroughly.
Perfect cleansing is the first step towards clear glass skin!

Ingredients and Benefits of DIY Cleansing Oil
Hazelnut oil
The tannins in hazelnut oil act as astringents which help cleanse the skin, unclog pores and remove bacteria.
Hazelnut oil is one of the best oils for oily, combination and acne-prone skin due to its low comedogenic index (meaning that it doesn’t clog pores) and ability to prevent excess oil production.
Grapeseed oil
Grapeseed oil moisturizes the skin, increases skin firmness and elasticity. Perfect for skin care as it is easily absorbed and doesn’t leave that greasy feeling.
Due to its fast absorption grapeseed oil is suitable for oily and combination skin types.
Cold pressed grapeseed oil is loaded with vitamin E which is a natural antioxidant. It also contains vitamin A, B, C, minerals, omega-6 and oleic fatty acids.
Castor oil
Castor oil has moisturizing properties and promotes skin elasticity and softness.
It is loaded with fatty acids, such as omega-6 and omega-9 and ricinoleic acid.
Due to its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties castor oil can help reduce acne. Ricinoleic acid present in castor oil can inhibit growth in the bacteria that cause acne. (Source)
Jojoba oil
Jojoba oil is especially beneficial for problematic skin with acne clogged pores. It helps clean the skin, balances natural oil production, and does not clog pores.
Jojoba oil has soothing, moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties.
Tea tree essential oil
Tea tree essential oil is widely used in skincare due to its antibacterial properties. It can be very helpful for prevention and treatment of mild and moderate acne breakouts.
Chamomile essential oil
Chamomile essential oil helps to restore skin damaged by acne, reduce scars and pigmentation. It calms irritated skin and soothes the complexion.
Lavender essential oil
Lavender essential oil calms the skin and has anti-inflammatory properties.
It is widely used in aromatherapy due to its calming and relaxing capabilities and amazing floral scent.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E extends the shelf life of skincare products. It protects the oils in the product from oxidation process and free radicals.
