Prep Your Skin
Makeup always looks so much better on well-hydrated and glowing skin, so it is super important to prep the skin before applying any foundation or other products.
Cleanse the skin and then follow with toner, serum and moisturizer.
However, if you have oily skin you need products that helps reduce oiliness and shine. You should avoid skincare and makeup products that contain oil because it will cause your makeup to slide and become shiny really quickly.
Use a Primer
A primer is used to prepare the skin before applying foundation. What it does is it fills in pores and fine lines to create a smooth base for foundation to go more flawlessly on to skin.
There are many types of primers – hydrating ones are used for moisturizing and smoothing dry skin, mattifying primers are used for oily skin to prevent shine, etc. Many primers also contain SPF.
Primer also helps the makeup last longer on the skin.
Apply Foundation
Dab a small amount of foundation on the face in little dots on cheeks, forehead, nose and chin. Blend it well using a damp beauty blender to create a natural and flawless look.
Conceal Problem Areas
Apply several dots of concealer under the eyes, then tap and press using your ring finger, never rub (you can also use a beauty blender). Apply concealer on other spots that need coverage – chin, around the nose, etc., and tap in. Using a soft brush add some translucent powder to the concealed areas so that the concealer no longer looks shiny and sticky.
Add Some Blush
A good blush can instantly make your face look younger and prettier because it adds natural colors in your cheeks and creates a healthy natural look. There are two types of blush: cream and powder.
Cream blush is perfect for dry skin, while powder blush looks best on oily skin.
Cream blush is perfect for beginners because it is so effortlessly blendable in case you tend to over-apply your blush. Cream blush helps create a radiant and glowy complexion and gives a beautiful sheer to the cheeks.
Eyeliner and Mascara
Using a white pencil on the waterline opens up the eyes and makes them appear brighter. Black pencil on the waterline makes eyes look narrower, creates a deeper and more sultry look.
Pencil is one of the easiest way to apply liner. Liquid eyeliner can be tricky to use for beginners and takes some practice to get used to it and learn the techniques. Liquid eyeliner is ideal for drawing precise lines, it helps create a more defined and dramatic look.
Lips
Prep the lips before applying lipstick or lip gloss. Gently exfoliate the lips using lip scrub, then apply hydrating lip balm.
I personally prefer cream lipsticks over matte lipsticks as they have a smooth appearance and a hint of moisture.
Adding lip gloss on top of lipstick will give volume and shine to the lips. Lipliners can also enhance existing fullness or help create a different lip shape.
