More Tips for Healthy Hair
- Twice per week massage your hair roots with castor oil – it will strengthen your hair roots, and help the hair to grow faster.
- Add a few drops of Argan Oil, Almond Oil, or Extra Virgin Olive Oil to your hair mask jar for extra nourishment.
- Always sleep on a silk pillowcase – it will prevent hair breakage and moisture loss. If you do your hair treatments in the evenings, then even if you dry your hair before going to sleep, your pillowcase will absorb a big part of the moisture from your hair. It won’t happen if you use a silk pillowcase.
- Always look for hair conditioners and hair masks that contain hydrolyzed protein or keratin. Your hair craves protein, however, if you apply a DIY hair mask with an egg or yogurt on your hair, the protein molecules will not penetrate the hair because they are too big. Hydrolyzed protein and keratin are small protein molecules.
- Use a hair spray with UV protection. UVB radiation is responsible for hair protein loss and UVA radiation is responsible for color changes. UV rays cause the production of free radicals, and they have adverse impact on hair proteins, especially keratin. [4]
- Hair is made almost entirely of protein. For this reason, it’s important to consume enough protein every day. Animal studies show that protein deficiency may decrease hair growth and even lead to hair loss [5, 6, 7]. Protein is a nutrient essential for your body, and it cannot make this nutrient by itself. If you’re on a diet that is low in protein, your body will start “eating” protein from your hair, skin, and nails.
